Liverpool have confirmed they have reached a pre-contract agreement with Valencia goalkeeper Georgi Mamardashvili, who will join the club next summer.

The 23-year-old Georgia international goalkeeper will move to Anfield for £25m plus £4m in add-ons.

Mamardashvili is set to remain at Valencia this season before moving to Liverpool to compete with Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher for the No.1 spot in June 2025.

The Reds have been following Mamardashvili’s progress for several years, with a number of excellent scouting reports and a high score from their analysis.

Alisson’s status as first-choice goalkeeper remains intact and Liverpool view signing Mamardashvili as a long-term succession plan.

Mamardashvili, who turns 24 in September, has already made over 100 appearances for Valencia and is widely hail as one of the top young goalkeepers in the world. His stock was boost even further this summer with some excellent showings for Georgia at Euro 2024.

Mamardashvili was in fine form for Georgia throughout their run to the last 16 of Euro 2024, where they lost to Spain, who went on to win the tournament in Germany.

He enjoyed a fine campaign, keeping 13 clean UFABET sheets in 37 La Liga appearances for Valencia last season.

Alisson has been the Reds’ number one since joining from Roma in 2018, with his contract at Anfield running until 2027.

In recent years, Kelleher has been the second choice goalkeeper, with his contract expiring in 2026.
